“예수께서 신 포도주를 받으신 후 가라사대 다 이루었다 하시고 머리를 숙이시고 영혼이 돌아가시니라”(요 19:30).

이 세상은 전에 이런 광경을 목격한 적이 결코 없었다.
군중들은 넋을 잃고 서서 숨을 죽이고 주님을 바라보고 있었다. 어두움은 다시 땅을 덮었고 맹렬한 천둥소리와 같은 둔탁한 울림이 들려왔다.

무서운 지진이 일어나고 많은 사람들이 함께 흔들렸다.
극도의 혼란과 경악이 계속되었다. 근처 산에서는 바위들이 산산이 갈라져서 평야로 굴러떨어졌다. 무덤들이 갈라져 열리고 시체들이 무덤 밖으로 내동댕이쳐졌다.
삼라 만상이 산산이 부수어지는 것 같았다.
제사장들과 관원들과 군사들과 사형 집행자들과 백성들은 무서워서 숨도 못쉬고 땅에 엎드려 있었다....

모든 것이 공포와 혼란 뿐이었다.
제사장은 희생 제물을 죽이려 했으나 칼은 그의 무기력한 손에서 떨어지고 양은 도망쳐 버렸다.
모형이 하나님의 아들의 죽음으로 원형과 마주쳤다.

큰 희생이 이루어졌다.
지성소로 가는 길은 열렸다.
새로운 삶의 길이 만민을 위하여 준비되었다.
더 이상 죄 많고 슬픔에 찬 인간들은 대제사장이 나오는 것을 기다릴 필요가 없었다.

이제부터는 구주께서 모든 하늘의 하늘에서 제사장과 대언자로서 직무를 행하실 것이다. 이것은 마치 예배하는 자들에게 힘있는 목소리로 다음과 같이 말한 것 같았다.
이제 죄를 위한 모든 희생과 제사는 끝났다.

“하나님이여 보시옵소서 두루마리 책에 나를 가리켜 기록한 것과 같이 하나님의 뜻을 행하러 왔나이다”(히 10:7)는 당신의 말씀대로 하나님의 아들이 오셨다.
그분은 “오직 자기 피로 영원한 속죄를 이루사 단번에 성소에”(히 9:12) 들어가신다.

🌻Aroma of Life | A New and Living Way for All🌻

"When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit." John 19:30,

Never before had the earth witnessed such a scene. The multitude stood paralyzed, and with bated breath gazed upon the Saviour.
Again darkness settled upon the earth,
and a hoarse rumbling, like heavy thunder, was heard.

There was a violent earthquake.
The people were shaken together in heaps.
The wildest confusion and consternation ensued.
In the surrounding mountains, rocks were rent asunder, and went crashing down into the plains. Sepulchers were broken open, and the dead were cast out of their tombs.
Creation seemed to be shivering to atoms.
Piests, rulers, soldiers, executioners and people, mute with terror, lay prostrate upon the ground.
.
All is terror and confusion.
The priest is about to slay the victim,
but the knife drops from his nerveless hand and the lamb escapes.
Type has met antitype in the death of God’s Son.

The great sacrifice has been made.
The way into the holiest is laid open.
A new and living way is prepared for all.
No longer need sinful, sorrowing humanity await the coming of the high priest.

Henceforth the Saviour was to officiate as priest and advocate in the heaven of heavens. It was as if a living voice had spoken to the worshipers:
There is now an end to all sacrifices and offerings for sin.

The Son of God is come according to His word,
“Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.”
“By his own blood” He entereth “in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us”
