🌻 생명의 향기 • 어두움 저편에는 빛이 있다 🌻 “내 혼이 사자 중에 처하며 내가 불사르는 자 중에 누웠으니”(시 57:4). 억압당하고 절망에 빠진 영혼들에게 오셔서 겁이 많은 자를 격려하시고 나약한 자를 강하게 하시며 시련당하는 여호와의 종들에게 용기와 도움을 나누어 주시는 하나님의 성령의 아름다운 감화는 얼마나 귀중한 것인가! 죄많은 자를 온유하게 다루시고 우리가 어떤 큰 슬픔에 짓눌려 있을 때와 역경에서 당신의 인내와 친절을 나타내시는 우리 하나님은 얼마나 고마우신 분인가! 하나님의 자녀들 편의 모든 실패는 믿음의 부족 때문에 생긴다. 그늘이 영혼을 에워쌀 때, 빛과 지도가 필요될 때에 우리는 위를 쳐다봐야 한다. 어두움 저편에는 빛이 있는 것이다. 다윗은 한 순간이라도 하나님을 불신하지 말았어야 했다. 그는 당연히 하나님을 신뢰했어야 했다. 이는 그가 여호와의 기름부음을 받은 자였고 위험 중에서도 하나님의 천사들의 보호를 받았었으며 경이로운 일을 하도록 하나님께서 용기로 무장시켜 주신 자였기 때문이었다. 만일 그가 처한 고통스러운 환경에서도 그의 결심이 풀어지지 아니하고 하나님의 능력과 위엄을 생각하였더라면 그는 죽음의 그늘 속에서까지라도 평화를 얻었을 것이며 확신을 가지고 “산들이 떠나며 작은 산들은 옮길지라도 나의 인자는 네게서 떠나지 아니하며 화평케 하는 나의 언약은 옮기지 아니하리라”(사 54:10) 는 여호와의 언약을 외웠을 것이다. - 투쟁과 용기, 166.

🌻 Aroma of Life • There is Light Beyond the Darkness 🌻 My soul is among lions; and I lie even among them that are set on fire. Psalm 57:4. Oh, how precious is the sweet influence of the Spirit of God as it comes to depressed or despairing souls, encouraging the fainthearted, strengthening the feeble, and imparting courage and help to the tried servants of the Lord! Oh, what a God is ours, who deals gently with the erring and manifests His patience and tenderness in adversity, and when we are overwhelmed with some great sorrow! Every failure on the part of the children of God is due to their lack of faith. When shadows encompass the soul, when we want light and guidance, we must look up: there is light beyond the darkness. David ought not to have distrusted God for one moment. He had cause for trusting in Him; he was the Lord’s anointed, and in the midst of danger he had been protected by the angels of God; he had been armed with courage to do wonderful things; and if he had but removed his mind from the distressing situation in which he was placed and had thought of God’s power and majesty, he would have been at peace even in the midst of the shadows of death. - Conflict and Courage, 166.
