🌻생명의 향기| 죄와의 싸움🌻 그리스도의 모본은 승리에 대한 유일의 희망이 사탄의 공격을 계속하여 저항하는데 있음을 우리에게 보여준다. 시험의 싸움에서 영혼의 적을 무찌르신 주께서는 인류를 지배하는 사탄의 세력을 이해하고 계신다. 그리하여 그는 우리를 대신하여 사탄을 정복하셨다. 승리자로서 그는 당신의 승리의 우세(優勢)를 우리에게 돌려주셔서 사탄의 유혹을 저항하려는 우리의 노력에 있어서 우리의 연약함이 주의 강하심에 연합하고, 우리의 무가치함이 주의 공로에 연합하게 하셨다. 그리하여 우리는 견인 불발한 주의 능력의 지지(支持)를 받아서 전능하신 주의 이름으로 유혹의 압박을 저항할 수 있으며, 주께서 승리하신 것과 같이 우리도 승리할 수 있다. 타락한 인간은 사탄의 합법적인 포로이다. 예수 그리스도의 사명은 사람을 사탄의 권세에서 건지는 것이었다. 사람은 나면서부터 사탄의 지시를 따르는 경향을 가지고 있다. 그러므로 위대한 승리자 그리스도께서 인간 속에 계셔서 욕망을 지도하시고 힘을 주시지 않는 한 인간은 혼자 힘으로는 그처럼 무서운 대적을 성공적으로 저항할 수 없다. 하나님께서만 사탄의 세력을 제한하실 수 있다. 사탄은 땅을 두루 돌아 여기저기 다니고 있다. 그는 사람을 멸망시키는 기회를 잃을까 두려워하여 단 한 순간도 감시의 눈을 떼지 않는다. 사탄의 올무를 피할 수 있도록 하나님의 백성들이 이와 같은 사실을 이해하는 것이 중요하다. ― 청년에게 보내는 기별, 50-51.

🌻Aroma of Life I The Conflict with Sin🌻 The example of Christ shows us that our only hope of victory is in continual resistance of Satan's attacks. He who triumphed over the adversary of souls in the conflict of temptations understands Satan's power over the race, and has conquered him in our behalf. As an overcomer, He has given us the advantage of His victory, that in our efforts to resist the temptations of Satan we may unite our weakness to His strength, our worthlessness to His merits. And sustained by His enduring might under the strength of temptation, we may resist in His all-powerful name, and overcome as He overcame. Fallen man is Satan's lawful captive. The mission of Jesus Christ was to rescue him from his power. Man is naturally inclined to follow Satan's suggestions, and he cannot of himself successfully resist so terrible a foe, unless Christ, the mighty conqueror, dwells in him, guiding his desires, and giving him strength. God alone can limit the power of Satan. He is going to and fro in the earth, and walking up and down in it. He is not off his watch for a single moment, through fear of losing an opportunity to destroy souls. It is important that God's people understand this, that they may escape his snares. — MYP 50-51.
