그리스도 안에서 인간과 하나님은 연합된다.... 그분의 사명은 하나님과 사람을 화목케 하고 유한과 무한을 연합시키는 것이었다. 이것이야말로 타락한 인간이 그리스도의 보혈의 공로로 신의 성품에 참여하게끔 높여질 수 있는 유일한 길이다. 인간이 되시므로 그리스도께서는 인간의 시련과 슬픔과, 또 인간이 당하게 되는 모든 시험을 이해할 수 있는 상황에 처하게 되었다. 죄가 무엇인지 모르는 천사들은 특정한 시련 속에서 인간이 당하는 바를 공감할 수 없다. 그리스도께서 인성을 취하셔서 내려오시고 우리와 한결같이 시험을 받으신 것은 시험받는 모든 자를 어떻게 구할 것인지를 알기 위함이었다. (교회증언 2권 201.1) In Christ were united the human and the divine. His mission was to reconcile God and man, to unite the finite with the infinite. This was the only way in which fallen men could be exalted through the merits of the blood of Christ to be partakers of the divine nature. Taking human nature fitted Christ to understand man’s trials and sorrows, and all the temptations wherewith he is beset. Angels who were unacquainted with sin could not sympathize with man in his peculiar trials. Christ condescended to take man’s nature and was tempted in all points like as we, that He might know how to succor all who should be tempted. (Testimonies for the Church Volume 2 201.1)
