그분이 인간이셨을 때에 그분은 아버지의 힘이 필요함을 느꼈다. 그분께서는 기도 장소를 찾으셨다. 그분은 산 속에서 홀로 아버지와 교통하는 것을 사랑하셨다. 이런 생활을 통해 그분의 거룩한 영혼은 그날의 의무와 시련을 위해 힘을 얻었다. 우리의 구주는 우리의 궁핍과 연약함에 하나가 되셨다. 그리하여 그분은 의무와 시련을 위해 무장된 모습으로 힘차고 신선하게 나아갈 수 있도록 당신의 아버지께로부터 새 힘을 구하는 자로서 간구자가 되셨고, 밤에는 탄원자가 되셨다. (교회증언 2권 201.2) As the human was upon Him, He felt His need of strength from His Father. He had select places of prayer. He loved to hold communion with His Father in the solitude of the mountain. In this exercise His holy, human soul was strengthened for the duties and trials of the day. Our Saviour identifies Himself with our needs and weaknesses, in that He became a suppliant, a nightly petitioner, seeking from His Father fresh supplies of strength, to come forth invigorated and refreshed, braced for duty and trial.
