🌻 생명의 향기 • 모든 폭풍 가운데서 안정함 🌻 우리는 그분의 고난에 함께 참여하는 자들이 그분의 영광에 함께 참여할 것이기 때문에 고난을 기대할 수 있다 그는 죄가 많으며 멸망하는 영혼들을 위하여 용서함과 썩지 아니함을 사셨으나 믿음으로써 이 선물들을 받아들이는 것은 우리의 할 일이다.  그를 믿음으로써 우리는 이 소망을 확실하고 튼튼한 영혼의 닻으로서 갖게 된다. 예수님께서는 우리의 구원을 위하여 이러한 값을 지불하셨으므로 우리는 이 세상에서뿐 아니라 하늘 나라에서도 확신을 가지고 하나님의 은총을 기대할 수 있다.  그리스도의 속죄와 중보사업을 신뢰하는 것은 전투하고 있는 교회 안에 있는 우리들에게 몰려오는 유혹 가운데서라도 우리를 요동하지 않도록 확고하게 지켜주실 것이다.  우리는 우리 앞에 놓여진 영광스러운 소망을 명상하며 믿음으로써 그것을 붙들자.… 우리가 큰 도덕적 위기에 노출되어 있는 것은 사실이다. 타락할 위험 가운데 우리가 있는 것도 사실이다.  그러나 이 위험도 우리가 자신을 신뢰하고 우리 인간의 노력만을 보고 그보다 더 큰 것을 보려고 하지 않을 때에 우리를 엄습할 것이다. 이렇게 되어서는 믿음의 파선을 당하고 말 것이다. 그리스도 안에 우리의 영원한 소망이 집중되어 있다.… 우리의 소망은 영혼의 닻 같아서 튼튼하고 견고하여 휘장 안으로 들어가게 한다. 왜냐하면 폭풍우에 시달려 지친 영혼이 신성의 참여자가 되기 때문이다.  그는 그리스도 안에서 닻을 내린다. 사나운 유혹 가운데서도 그는 바위에 부딛치거나 파도에 밀려 파선되지 않는다. 그의 배는 폭풍우를 뚫고 지나간다. - 그분을 알기 위하여, 79.

🌻 Aroma of Life • Safe in Every Storm 🌻 We may expect to suffer, for it is those who are partakers with Him in His sufferings who shall be partakers with Him in His glory.  He has purchased forgiveness and immortality for the sinful, perishing souls of men, but it is our part to receive these gifts by faith.  Believing in Him, we have this hope as an anchor of the soul, sure and steadfast.  We are to understand that we may confidently expect God’s favor not only in this world but in the heavenly world, since He paid such a price for our salvation.  Faith in the atonement and intercession of Christ will keep us steadfast and immovable amid the temptations that press upon us in the church militant.  Let us contemplate the glorious hope that is set before us, and by faith lay hold upon it....  It is true that we are exposed to great moral peril; it is true that we are in danger of being corrupted.  But this danger threatens us only as we trust in self and look no higher than our own human efforts. In doing this we shall make shipwreck of faith. In Christ our hope of eternal life is centered... Our hope is an anchor to the soul both sure and steadfast when it entereth into that within the vail, for the tempest-tossed soul becomes a partaker of the divine nature.  He is anchored in Christ. Amid the raging elements of temptation he will not be driven upon the rocks or drawn into the whirlpool. His ship will outride the storm.  - That I May Know Him, 79.
