우리가 그분의 사랑 안에서 ...

우리가 그분의 사랑 안에서 그분의 뜻을 행하며 영원히 살기를 원하시는 하나님 ㅡ “보라 아버지께서 어떠한 사랑을 우리에게 베푸사 하나님의 자녀라 일컬음을 받게 하셨는가, 우리가 그러하도다 그러므로 세상이 우리를 알지 못함은 그를 알지 못함이라”(요일 3:1) 모든 사람이 이생에서 바쁜 것을 우리가 보면서 우리는 모든 사람들이 한 목적을 가지고 있음을 안다. 어떤 이들은 사소한 어떤 유익을 위해 하나님의 율법으로부터 그들의 눈을 돌이켰다. 그러나 하나님께서는 여전히 그분의 무한한 아들의 사랑을 우리에게 제시하신다. 그분은 타락한 세상의 구원을 위해 주신 것을 우리 앞에 제시하신다. 그리고 그분은 세상이 그분을 알지 못한다고 우리에게 말씀하신다. 그 이유는 무엇인가? 왜냐하면 이 세상에 대한 염려가 마음의 모든 능력을 붙잡고 있기 때문이다. 애정은 마음이 있는 곳에 집중되어 있다. 그래서 하나님의 사랑이 우리를 향해 나타났음에도 불구하고, 우리의 애정이 위에 있는 것들에 집중되도록 그분께서 그분의 독생자를 아끼지 않으셨음에도 불구하고, 타락한 인류를 위해 모든 희생이 치러졌음에도 불구하고, 그분이 우리 각자 앞에 스러지지 않을 불멸의 면류관을 놓아 주셨음에도 불구하고, 그래서 그분이 우리에게 그리스도와 천사들이 우리를 만날 장소를 약속하셨음에도 불구하고, 신실한 자들을 기다리는 영원한 영광의 중한 것이 있음에도 불구하고, 이 모든 것에도 불구하고, 이 땅의 덧없는 쾌락을 위하여 세상은 이 영원한 유익이 되는 모든 것을 버렸다. “이 세상이나 세상에 있는 것들을 사랑하지 말라 누구든지 세상을 사랑하면 아버지의 사랑이 그 안에 있지 아니하니 이는 세상에 있는 모든 것이 육신의 정욕과 안목의 정욕과 이생의 자랑이니 다 아버지께로부터 온 것이 아니요 세상으로부터 온 것이라 이 세상도, 그 정욕도 지나가되 오직 하나님의 뜻을 행하는 자는 영원히 거하느니라”(요일 2:15-17) (설교와 강연 2 48)

God Wants Us to Live Forever Abiding in Him and Doing His Will ㅡ “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.” (1 John 3:1) As we see everyone busy in this life we see that everyone has an object. Some have their eyes turned away from the law of God to things of minor interest; but yet God presents before us the love of His infinite Son. He presents before us that which He has given for the salvation of the fallen world. And He tells us the world did not know Him. And why? Because the cares of this world occupy all the faculties of the mind. The affections are centered just where the mind is. So notwithstanding the love of God that was manifested for us, notwithstanding He did not withhold His only begotten Son that our affections might be centered on things above, notwithstanding all the sacrifice that has been made for the fallen race, notwithstanding He has placed before each of us a crown of immortality that shall not fade away, that He has promised us a place where Christ and angels shall meet us, notwithstanding there is an eternal weight of glory waiting the faithful; yet notwithstanding all this, for the fleeting pleasures of this earth, the world throws away these things of eternal interest. “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
